Omega 3

Omega-3 fatty acids is an umbrella term for polyunsaturated fatty acids PUFAs.

DHA and EPA are two specific omega-3 fatty acids within this category relevant to humans.

DHA

  • DHA is major structural fat in the brain.
    • supports memory, focus and brain health
  • It is the main fatty acid in the retina.
    • supports clear vision and long-term eye health

EPA

  • supports mood & healhty inflammation balance in the brain
  • promotes healthy joints & mobility

Sources

Recommended 400 mg of each EPA & DHA

  • 2-3 ounces (55-85 grams) of fatty fish daily
    • salmon, sardines, mackerel, herring, and anchovies are most efficient

Plant sources like flax, chia or walnut don't provide meaningful ammounts due to needing conversion from alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)

Supplements

Sourcing from algae allows it to be grown in controlled environment and don't gain contaminates from ocean.

Claim BJ's tablets are 60% vs others are half amount... unsure about that claim
