Schools

For UW-ACT, you need to teach at public, charter, or independent schools.

For public schools, you will need a teaching certificate, so wouldn't work. But independent school don't require it (unsure charter)

  • If substitute teacher and working in a long-term substitute teaching context, you could be eligible to apply to the program.
    • Please contact the U-ACT Program Director Megan Kelley-Petersen to discuss this possibility.
  • If you are not yet hired by a school or district at the time of your application, please clearly note this in your application.
    • We will review your application, even if you are not yet employed, as we may be able to act as an advocate and resource in connecting you with potential teaching positions.

Seems for subs at independent schools you need:

  • Adult and Children CPR, First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date)

Independent High Schools

There are summer math teachers for $8,000 for 1/2 day for 5 weeks. Robotics and coaches get paid the same at roughly $3,000 - $8,000.

Charter High Schools
