Shifter snapped in middle of driving, towed back home

  • How to drive stick, business insider, fiat
  • Shifts down into 4th, but cannot shift out of it after!
    • Can manually pull the shifter back to neutral from bottom of car
  • Neutral shifter (left-right) works just fine!

Sealant Spray

  1. Spray outside (will wear off)

  2. Brake cleaner the area until bone-dry

  3. Apply RTV (Room-Temperature Vulcanizing silicone)

    • Permatex Ultra Grey, rigid
    • Permatex Ultra Black, more oil resistant
    • Loctite 598 Black RTV

  4. Internal stop-leak additive (only if leak is mild)

  5. This can help only if the seal is hardened, not torn:

    • Lubegard Seal Fixx
    • BlueDevil Transmission Sealer
